If you were to ask me why I like certain types of music, TV shows, books, etc.., I probably won't be able to tell you in words why. So I've decided to do a series of posts attempting to convey why I like the things I do. Let's start with music.
When it comes to music, I like a variety of music. I like almost all types of music except for Rap, Hip-hop and Heavy Metal. My top favorite genres are; Pop, Country, Rock, and Christian/Gospel.
My favorite artists/bands are Kenny Rogers, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Sara Evans, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Skillet, MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Carrie Underwood, TobyMac, Josh Groban, Josh Gracin, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Brian Littrell, Howie D, Nick Carter, Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, NSYNC, Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees, Willie Nelson, Big and Rich, Brooks and Dunn, Garth Brooks, Lonestar, Miranda Lambert, Trace Adkins. There are a lot more but those ones are the best ones in my opinion.
Now why I like each of them? Well I won't explain about every single one. I'll just pick a couple from the list.
Kenny Rogers.
I have been listening to Kenny Rogers since I was little. The first song I ever heard him sing was "Buy Me a Rose". I loved that song the second I heard it. Kenny is probably one of the best country music artists out there and nobody can really compare to him. I like him because he is great at what he does. My other favorites of his are "The Gambler" and "Islands in the Stream".
MercyMe
I love MercyMe. They are one of the best Christian artists in the world. Their song "I Can Only Imagine" is my favorite song. I started listening to MercyMe about 10 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. I love their music and style.
Carrie Underwood
The first time I heard Carrie sing was on American Idol (probably the only season I watched the whole way through). She is down to earth and a very nice person. She is another really good country artist and doesn't let fame get to her. She loves the lord and she is a testimony to everyone who ever listened to one of her songs. "Temporary Home" is a great song and one of my favorites. I also love to listen to "Cowboy Casanova" and "Jesus Take the Wheel".
New Kids on the Block
You were probably wondering why I chose to list these guys as one of my favorites. Well, while I was not born when they first toured in the late 80s early 90s, I love their music. I just recently started to get into their music and enjoy it. It might be all of a sudden but I really do enjoy listening to them. New Kids came back in 2008 after a 14-year break. With New Kids, it feels like a family. Joey, Jon, Jordan, Danny and Donnie makes their fans feel included and loved. They always say they have the best fans and they really do. My favorite song from New Kids is "We Own Tonight". Another good one is "Please Don't Go Girl" which Joey McIntyre sings to perfection every time. I think I love them because I'm a 90's kid with a 70's/80's soul. I love older music and if a boyband from the 80's is old then add it to the list.
Backstreet Boys
My last explanation will be the Backstreet Boys. The 90's kid in me is probably jumping with joy right now. Backstreet Boys was around while I was growing up. The first song I ever remember listening to was "Larger Than Life" where I thought the words were "Get a Life" at the end of the chorus. But hey, I was 7 and I didn't know any better. I stopped listening to them for awhile and recently got back into listening to them. I started listening to them again through a YouTube video I saw where someone was talking about them and I just wanted to check them out to see if they were still any good. Well the song I listened to was "Show Em What You're Made Of" which is probably my new favorite BSB song. This song made me get interested in them again and I would love to hear them sing it live. If you never heard the song, even if you don't really like boybands, you should listen to it. I did my research and found out that Kevin left the group in 2006 but came back in 2012 right before they were set to come out with a new album. Like the New Kids, they treat their fans like family and I just like to know that their are others out there that like the same person as me or they understand the obsession with Brian's voice or Howie, just being Howie.
